ok... well i have a psp version 2.01

now there are DEMOS available for download for version 2.71

i downloaded one and put it on my psps.. it said i needed version 2.71

so i modified the demo file and in the header it had 2.71 so i changed it to 2.01

then when i tried to run it.. it didnt complain.. but crashed after showing the sony logo..

so i decided i might want to upgrade.. but i wanna see what happens..

so i setup some stuff to monitor what goes on and this is what i found


i click on network update in my psp it goes to this file on the internet

http://fe01.psp.update.playstation.org/update/eu/psp-updatelist.txt

which contains

if you goto that location then you find the eboot.pbp file... it then takes that file and sticks it into a _UPDATE location on your psp!!!

not sure what happens next

wanna stuff around with these files before i load them!

ok.. i need to fake the lmhosts.. or a dns.. or something to get the psp to download a different text file for some tests now!

ok.. well updated the psp to 2.17
it runs the demo's
even the one which i hex edited... which is good means there at least isnt some checksum on the whole field!
