See what I mean ... to the tower on wireless is always awesome.
I.E. Wireless technology is AMAZING.
The problem then arrives cos they don't have the bucks to do the rest of the network properly.
*sigh*

Now thats the problem I had when I tried the wireless thingy. PENET. Ping www.penet.co.za sometime and check the results...shocking. I played bf and got 1200ms pings. :yikes: trangely tho it wasn't all the time. I asked them about it and got some waffle about dealing with banks and bussinesses whose network traffic got priority. So I decided that my bucks got priority and stayed with Axxess on dsl.
I have however got an IS router here that they sent me to trial for 30 days. I must just find the inclination to climb behind my desk, sort through the jumble of wires (without strangling myself) and plug the thing in.

sss that odd spike in your pings (200 oddms) is apparently something that happens with wireless... I was getting it too. The problem is that it can come at the most akward times, mostly when you are trying to line up to put a couple of rockets into a tank or youv'e just rounded a corner and come face to face with Croglet, The_Dog or some other uber player... that little spike in the pings is as good as a knife in the ribs.

nah... im only 700m from the tower... my last wireless connection i setup was the same distance and its what i've been playing on for the last year.. if you got good line of sight and all the stuff setup right... your connection will be flawless

Directional focussed wireless is flawless unless it's phsically obstructed.
Next time you drive to the cape or durban .. look for the microwave towers that carry telkom's backbone long-distance.

not bad for a 512k connection
