I have cleared my second 160gb for testing various distros that I got my hands on.
Got Ubuntu Breezy, Gentoo 2006.0, Belenix (don't think I'll try it - Solaris based), SimplyMEPIS 3.4 and FC5 64.

i hate windows because um, because
i dont care, its fine they have done a reasonably good job with making an OS... yes yes if you want to reroute your kideny and haxor the gibson in suedo polyneasian, then MS OS's might not be for you ...
the end-user product they delever is actually pretty fucking good, the fact my grandmother can use it is some proof. if you want more flexablity then yeah XP sucks... but thats kinda like Shumi saying that these dam fiat unos, suck i mean they have no speed ...they get the job done :p/. honestly my beaf with microsoft is the way in which they go about some things, for example this plug-in thing...(on that note, if you search for the file you want to download from MS, lots of peeps have them on file servers)
any way i felt like typeing and not studying, so you guys get a mouthfull :p

Ok well...
So far... kUbuntu Breezy (Live) will NOT boot on my system, even with using command line options to disable stuff.
Simply MEPIS boots---into KDE. Blergh. FUgly. I hate KDE. Chose not to attempt an HDD install.
Belenix has issues. Will NOT boot properly.
I'm currently in on Gentoo 2006.0 live.
/me loves gnome ... oooh pretty pretty.
Mouse cursor is twitching on the installer icon. But I don't feel like spending several hours and killing my cap doing an install. *sigh*
(But I wanna)
No, you can't. Hours to compile and install.
(But, but..)
NO!
*sigh*
Let me go install FC5.
(If you're wondering why I'm using TGTest -- I can't remember my password, and my password database is encrypted)

I'm now in on FC5. Kewl. Pretty pretty. It's the 32 bit version tho, since I don't have the x86_64 version handy yet.
Hmm. Wonder if I can 'convert'?

If you're prepared to spend R3000 on a PC and R2000 on MS Office, just pony up and pay for the R500 damn Windows license!
Malice<>ignorance, you know the saying. MS has got it's own plans to worry about, they're honestly too big to really care about wine or crossover, they're to busy fighting all the bad press and piracy.
Having been to Devdays yesterday makes me applaud them, what they're doing for their platform is fantastic from a developer perspective and the fact that they're putting in the effort to make Atlas compatible will Safari and Firefox is comendable. They're a smarter, more civilized Evil Megacorp from the backhanded Vole of yore. Point of note.
Their plans are not about screwing the Opposition, it's about being so far ahead that there's real value in the difference.

If/when I ever get around to the possiblitly of writing programs etc i will almost definitely change... Grr, windows, Grrr...
