I just ran speednet tests on my line between 2 different nodes:

How on earth do I improve my upload speed? My modem is a cable modem, no ADSL, and most of the settings are handled by the fibre exchange. There is very little literature available with most saying to just leave it on the defaults. I need to upload some webpages for a colleague and it's just taking far too long.

Please assist.

Come now Thumpy, be grateful you have at least this one thing in your life where you aren't done in under a minute.

Wonderfully entertaining replies but still not very helpful with the original question. Is there anyone out there who can assist?

Maybe your line or something else is just blocked up from too many dataz.
Trying using this pipe scrubber to clean the pipes and perhaps get more speed out of your uploads...

"The boy that cried wolf" springs to mind.

Just looking at what services are available in the UK, I think your upload will be limited by your ISP - I see 1.3Mb/sec being quoted as standard, I could be wrong.

You can opt to increase your upload speed provided you are close enough to the exchange. Did you request a minimum upload speed when purchasing the service? I see figures of 10mb/sec being quoted (for your line speed) - once again, dependant on the distance from the exchange. You need to verify the details with your ISP, they will check what your maximum upload speed is & amend your contract, if required.

It is also dependant on how much data you're pulling down, because a percentage of that is converted into return traffic using your upload capacity.

Or, just try Blinky's pipe-cleaner :p

Dude, have you looked at your ping? It's frikkin' horrible.
I mean, with the added latency of connecting to European WoW servers, I'm not sure how you cope.

Im quite sad now, I was all excited to help Shamus out. Then he tore my heart out and stomped on it.
I needses your internets plox. With a stable connection like that though it will be determined by your service provider. Im sure cable is still a-syncronous so you wont have equal up and down speeds. Tell your mate to stop uploading such massives sites though!

Just for interest, how much data were you trying to upload anyway?

Thumponius
