BF2142 - will you buy it?

When BF2142 is out in the last quarter of 2006, what will you do?

Seriously ... I really don't think that anything can stop me from getting this.

I will probably succumb to my weakness and buy the game. If I am a bit more in posession of my senses, I will wait until the feedback from the community arrives. The game generally sounds cool, especially the camo option for sniper and spec ops. The knife thing makes me a bit wary, it is just asking for all the knife whores to increase their efforts. But we'll see. At this point I doubt BF2142 will be out this year anyway.

i own every BF so far... thats not going to change,

id like to say somthing at this pointy, my mic was broken for a bit last week, and bf is not as good with out voice. i dont think i would be so much of a bf2 junkie if it didnt have voice.

I think the engine will still be the same. Maybe a bit more eye candy and some extra shaders, but a machine that can play BF2 without hassle should be able to run BF2142 as well (imho).

I will probably buy it. But not immediately. I first want to see how it runs. Does it have VOIP. This will be a big factor

I believe the engine is much the same. Much as Vietnam was just a reskinned and modded 1942.

I do feel the need for something new and fresh, I'm starting to get bored of BF2. Whether it'll be 2142 or quake wars will have to wait and see. I'm with useless, I'll pretty much go where the clan goes, so long long as I can blow lotsa **** up!!! Go Team! :p

This summer will see the launch of the open beta for Battlefield 2142, the latest instalment in the hit PC shooter series.

That's according to a DICE representative contacted by community site bf2142.com, who said: "We are going to throw out an open beta in the beginning of August. The beta is predominantly to learn about large scale issues, i.e. when we have [tens of thousands] of people playing at the same time, eliminating some of the problems we have encountered after launch previously in the franchise. Keep your eyes open to join."

A playable demo is promised, too: "The demo for BF2 went out about 10 days before launch if I remember correctly. I am sure something similar will be the deal for 2142," the representative said.

I'll [-]defent difen ..defient [/-] certainly be buying it if it has VOIP. Thats a MUST have... no voip no buy. VOIP is what made BF2 imho. Oh and I'll prolly get Quake wars:ET if it has VOIP... MUST have VOIP.... this was the best invention since the PC.

Another EA Mod encouraging Base raping, no thank you. The online community got my off BF 1942, and from what I've picked up in BF2 it just worsened.

I initialy got ADSL for BF1942 and then when I was so dissapointed with the community that I canceled my ADSL (b.t.w. it was the days when you had only 512 k ADSL)

I do know wher I'm posting, and I did belong to a clan, but clan matches/practise sessions was not enough bf so you used to play on the public servers and there the spawn raping was just a nightmare....

well, from my side i only re-started BF2 coz of the clan, i even bought the two booster packs to join peeps on the other maps... cant find SF though...

Wel I recon that the clan you are with will make a bit of a diference, but I started dispising the time on the public servers, which isn't good.

Hey Useless. At one stage you could get SF online as well, via the downloader. Not sure if you can use a CD/DVD copy, and then use your online Purchase to play, or whether you'd need to use the downloaded installer.

You ca try with my SF copy if you keen. Or, failing that, I can D/L it for you (+/- 1.2Gb).

I know what you mean about the lonely thing. I sometimes try join a server, and its full, and all the WrG guys are on that server. That's the pits as well. I end up not playing....

@NB, useless : Agree totally - it's really frustrating when a place won't open up on the server that's full of Wargeeks. What I normally do then is wait for the round end - just sit in the server browser window clicking on the server - when the round ends a few peeps normally get thrown off, just join immediately & off we go ... ! :)

On a side note: it's really enjoyable when the SF server gets going & a few WrG's join in (we often get the game going, which takes a while) ... minimal smacktards (normally) & the maps are all 32-player ... join us there if you see guys hanging round on it !
