View Full Version : Kinship House

I think we can seriously consider purchasing a Kinship house with so many new players. Upkeep isn't as expensive as I initially thought (about 300 silver per week). The purchase price is quite a bit though, but nothing we can't start saving for (17 gold and 250 silver for the most expensive one)
Here is a link you can check out:
http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Housing
I'm keen for a kinship house in Fathalorn (Ered Luin) which is an elf homestead, as the majority of our players are elves and it's really pretty :D
The big plus is housing means extra storage :D You are given a map to port there directly.
The only thing is the Kinship leader must purchase the house, and that is Ga55ie, who is no longer actively playing. We'll have to lure him back somehow :psycho:
If we don't get a kinship house, I will prob buy a small homestead myself :D It's just a diff aspect of the game, I'd like to explore.

That does sound good, but still having trouble getting into the game. You have been speaking about a house for a while now. I have about 50 silver for you. :)

I'll go around and check out the homesteads in each of the areas and see what is for sale. Availability might also be an issue - there might not be any more for sale  I think the main contributors will prob be the higher level players as we can raise the money more easily. So their feedback will be what counts for now. Otherwise we can just postpone the kinship house purchase for now, until the other players level up, and we can see which players are going to continue to play LOTRO into the high levels.

I don't mind contributing. I'm sure I can get some Gold together. It's all going into overflow anyway.

I need to get the game to open up the auction house for me before i get anywhere.
Still struggling through the lower levels.
Flatty mentioned the items dropped and money awarded for quests at higher levels much better. Only then I'll be able to pay rent. Any chance gassie can transfer his leadership to u wonda?
Other than that I'm all for it

You're not coming back? Srsly, I don't mind taking it over. I don't have the terrible choice of choosing between WoW and LOTRO - I know you vested a lot of time into both. As long as you're okay with it, I'm okay with it.

I am coming back to LOTRO. Comparing WoW and LOTRO does not do justice to each of the games but the lore, the graphics and the game play is so much fun in LOTRO. Passing the Kinship is just admin :)
I stood back from it due to the "smaller" number of people playing it and making it a bit more difficult to progress through the instances but the group is growing nicely.
WondaWoman
6th December 2010, 01:19 PM
I meant the choice as in time. Which to choose to spend your time playing. I've never played WoW, so I can't really compare game play.
Yeah I know what you mean about higher level quests. I'm super keen to do the BG's in the higher level areas  They look so challenging!!! So keen to have you back :D

I got some good news from my ISP today, as you know the new expansion is coming out for WoW, but I really like the game play and graphics of LOTRO, also the people playing are not bad either. :D
So I will be splitting up my time between the two. I do not think it will take long untill WoW settles down again. It will be nice to be online again. I miss Middle earth, I got killed by horde so many times in the last week I actually want to stop playing. At least I have a sniper watching my back in LOTRO. :)

I'll contribute to the Kinship house.
Flatty you will raise gold pretty quickly by selling ore. Tin ore is very valuable, as is Gold, Silver and Rich Iron ores. This goes out to all the lower level guys. Please do not sell your vauluable ore off. The only ore that is pretty much vendor stuff is Copper Ore and Barrow Iron.
If you do not have space for the ore, send it to me, I can store it/sell it and pass the moolah on to Wonda.

I went house shopping today. Found a nice semi empty neighbourhood with a kin house that stands on top of a hill overlooking the valley with mountains in the distance *sigh* It's 15gold (I know! What a bargain!) and the upkeep per week is 300 silver. Address is 8 Haven way Mithuinan, Fathathlorn, Ered Luin. If you okes want to look at it together, I can port us there :gyes:

I'm going to leave buying a kinship house until the New Year. I need to see how many ppl are seriously sticking around. Otherwise the costs will fall on a few of us. If there are only a few of us, we might as well buy little houses each, as the upkeep is only 50 silver per week, and they only cost like 1 gold.

The house has been bought :woohoo: Thanks to all who contributed money towards this cause.
I have given permissions to all kinship members to decorate, maintain, store goods etc.
To decorate:
On your minimap a small toggle button will appear when you are on the lot. You can toggle between decorate mode and normal mode. Right click on a space and drag your deco item to the small box that appear. To remove, just pop the icon back in your bag. Decorate as you like. I might shift stuff around etc. We'll see how it goes. I've already made stuff for the house, some stuff looks odd (like the bed I made, so i popped it in storage).
To pay maintenance:
I will send you a mail to tell you it's your turn to pay maintenance. Simply open your character panel (C) and choose the house tab. Click on the maintenance button and pay until you cannot pay anymore. If you have cash flow issues, simply send me a mail saying you're bankrupt atm, and I will mail the next guy. Obviously only active players will be mailed.
Storage:
There are 3 chests dotted around the house. We can discuss what should be stored here???? I have no clue.

A request please regarding decorating:
Please do not change paint colours. This is something that is not really necessary, and simply a waste of money. Esp if everyone does it, we'll have diff coloured walls everyday.
Otherwise feel free to put your deco stuff in the house, it may be moved around simply to accomodate other pieces that fit better. If you change the ambient music in the kinship house, please put the current music in the storage chest, do not throw away!! Think of it as changing CD's in the CD player.
If you find you cannot locate your deco piece, mail me. Depending of what deco is put up, I may make a veto decision to rip it off the wall and throw it in the box. Call it autocratic leadership. My vote is the only one that counts :D
