Default To Fire and Ice - Handy tips

T1- The boss fight for this consists of 2 giants. One is a frost giant who gives -100% fire mitigations and the other is a fire giant who gives -100% frost mitigations. We tackle this by working in fellowships, so try to split the dps between the 2 fellowships as evenly as possible. One fellowship goes to the far right wall and deals with the fire giant, the other fellowship goes to the far left wall and deals with the frost giant. However, with the new update this has been changed, one fellowship needs to move their giant to the entrance corner as now if they are in close proximity but on other sides of the room they will throw ice/fire to the other fellowship which does nasty damage.

Regardless of what giant you're fellowship is assinged to the tactic is the same. The first thing to note is that everyone needs to group up closely behind him, if you go too far away he starts to do an attack which sends you flying in the air towards him, so stay close to him. The giant will periodically summon a grim of the same affinty as himself (e.g. frost giant summons frost grim). The number of grims its summons is the same as the number of people who are in the giants frontal 180 arc, so make sure only the tank is in front of him at all times, failing to do so causes more than 1 grim to spawn which can easily result in you being overrun and wiping. It is important to burn these asap when they come otherwise you risk getting over run, so everyone baring the tank and captain (who stay on the boss) should burn the grim. These grims have 30k morale but after a while will start to absorb damage, to break this state simply cc them and they stop absorbing. The giant will from time to time gain corruptions, we need to remove them asap otherwise it will allow the giant to do a "powerful attack"(the power attack is a huge knockback ) The corruption last 10s so we dont have a lot of time to remove it, as such we leave the captain on the boss at all times to use blade of elendil to remove it. However, this wont be enough, because he has "double corruptions", so as soon as you remove the first he gains another, so have the captain call it out so someone else in the group can remove it. (Note: Having done this on my minstrel I can now say that once he gets his first set of corruption they then appear exactly every minute. As such it is an idea to have minstrel remove one of the corruptions using Improved Cry Of the Valar (easiest using skill target forwarding) which rather handily has a 1 minute cd, so when the cd expires the corruptions should be reappearing and the minstrel can use it again to remove one of the corruptions leaving the captain to remove the other )Lastly, he can bubble and gain 150k worth of temporary morale for 30s (its appearance is the same as the minstrel bubble,

Looks like the number of grims = number of people in his 180 degree arch. and cappy should always be on giant to remove corruption

Thanks rizzy...forgot about the whole grouping up behind him thing. Leading it is very diff to just being a passenger... :/ Have to pay attention to all the mechanics, which I never do. I usually just throw arrows. We can try it again with the new knowledge

Everyone needs to get to know their corruption removal skills, as it appears that the power attack was what pooned us last night.

Re: Corruption removal - who does?

It depends the nature of the fight, if it's better to remove melee and what everyone's busy with.
    From your group:
LM - is good to remove 3 at once and they can reset it so do that 2x if needed (resist).
Burg - also has a burst removal like LM.
Guardian - sting is good but in some fights takes careful timing because there's a delay before it gets applied.
Minstrel - is awesome for corruption removal though often too busy healing. You can remove 5 in row by doing 1 regular Herald's Strike, then Noble Cause to unlock 3 more Herald's Strikes and finally a normal Herald's Strike again.
Also Anthem of the Valar is an AoE ranged corruption removal.
Captain - needs to use Light of Elendil to do it which requires a skill chain before it (battle state)
Champion - is the least feasible as they're removal is chance based.

That last statement about the champion is not true anymore. After the last patch it works like this:

    2H: 2 strikes. 1st strike has 50% chance, 2nd strike has 100% chance (used to be 50%)
    Dual Wield: 3 strikes. 1 = 50%, 2 = 100%, 3 = 50%

The cooldown on the skill is 4.2 secs. Once I realised last night that he had corruptions to remove, I removed it on a regular basis.

Us hunters can help with removal once the giants are at 50% of morale with the Merciful Shot removing up to 3 corruptions at once, the Dazing Blow also removes up to 3 corruptions but we used that a lot against the grims.

    The cooldown's are 30s and 1min respectively.

P.S. Wawa I thought you ran the run very well last night. I was rather honored to be the rat on the other side, gave me a little more to do than just follow and shoot, made things a lot more intense.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

I did mention this last night in mumble...but I going to delay running another kin Tower until some of our members are up to scratch. Tenisa needs to work on his healing traits, and I need to get Drusky levelled up and kitted.

I suggest you all join PUG groups in the mean time. I will think about leading a PUG group, but it's not ideal.

Think my healing skills are now 75% up to scratch.

I re-traited. Couple of traits I would rather slot but they are not open yet. Working on that. Though my second choices are not too bad.

I read up on the post RoI Minstrel and the changes made to this class. Must admit I had no idea of how the Balads worked and how they supported both the healing potential as well at the Anthems. Also, how the Anthems affected and improved the Coda.
I think this is the thread where I found the information:
    http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...se-of-Isengard
Had to go through it several times; who says the Minstrel is still an "easy class"?

Finally, I got that Reforged 2nd Age Songbook (Tks, Stool!) Working on leveling that. (Unfortunately, on reforging at lvl10 I didn't get another Major - The Minors on the Songbook is worthless for Fellowships.

Now, if our Weaponsmith would be so kind as to make me a lvl 75 2nd Age Minstrel Club?

I think Jonny can make you the club, if that's what you want. Druskion can make swords/axes etc. Just send the mats through to whomever with your order

You are def healing soooo much better. You did the F&F, acid and shadow with us last Thurs. The acid was only a problem because of the jumping mechanics, which are a pain I must admit. Otherwise a million times better!
