I tried this IRC story. OK so which way out of this bucket of mud... I'm too unediucated.![]()
Thanks TG. Of course that "short" primer is actually quite a bit of a read... Eish. I'll have to tuck into it in between BF2 and work. This means I should have read it finished by ... um... September.
i'm a real Nooob to IRC just downloaded and installed added the server and filled in a nick and fake email and fake name but still cant connect are some setting i have to tweak or is the server not up
The servers are always up. Connect to za.shadowfire.org, it will redirect you to one of the local servers.
If you're trying from work, it could be the ports are blocked. Usually it's 6667-7000, but to get around that they also offer ports 23, 53, and 110.

Ok so I actually got IRC working by the old click here click there, die and reinstall method. But (there's always a but) Now we've got IRC, MSN, Shoutbox, Skype. Everybody's got something, nobody's got the one thing that everybody's got to get everybody talking to everybody else... *sigh* So thisbody's got like three comms protocal sitting there and now I is wondering ... how much bandwidth am I devoting to talking to everybody?![]()
