    Default Superman Returns

Saw this movie on Sunday at the Il Grande in Monty. Well worth seeing it on the big screen.

So the synopsis is that apparently Superman's homeworld was discovered by astronomers and he disappeared after those news were disclosed to the public.

A supernova takes a planet with it and a capsule is witnessed moving along the debris. Without talking too much about the whole movie we are shown the newly arrived reborn Superman with memories from the previous one.

The introduction of the characters is smooth and the ever popular evil Lex Luthor gathers a plan to get his revenge.

There are a couple of twists in the storyline and wont spoil it here.

Overall and enjoyable movie, good FX, decent storyline if you would call it that and Superman's hair actually moves when he flies!

I suppose a sequel will be in the works.

Warning - do not go and see this movie at Hyde Park Nu Metro. They have stuffed the sound up solid, movie house running down, really annoying. Got my money back, made them pay for parking and went to see it at Northgate for a thrid of the price.

I am not sure that the sound is particularly good in how they have mixed it. Soundtrack and effect are good but the dialog track seems nerfed.

I don't agree with Useless' statement about Superman being reborn. But see for yourselves. It is a long movie so be prepared.

If you're going through hell, keep moving.

Let's see. KryPton is destroyed many thousands of years ago and superman is sent to Earth as a baby. He arrives in a space ship.

the story line in the movie alludes to him having gone in search of Kryton to make sure for himself that it is all gone. 'It was a graveyard'.

Superman's powers come from the sun - he is like a battery and you could drawn the conclusion that he may have been significantly weakened by travelling to Kryton - perhaps to the point that he'd have needed assistance in getting back. To that end he could have used the crystals to form a 'spaceship' for the return journey.

Ultimately though, it just created a vehicle to remind the audience of his background, or to bring new fans into the loop and for the interesting flashbacks.

There are some irritations in the story but they may be spoilers so I'll hush for now.

But the comic book has him killed by Doomsday and he does return after being saved by Kryptonian technology. But then nobody has ever said that there has to be consistency in the DC (or even the Marvel) universes.

    8? Try 16.. unless there's a promotion that I wasn't aware of.
Normal numetro price is R20 these days - R4 for edgars card = R16.

And you can only buy 4 tickets per day on an edgars card.
