Default Gears of War released, cleaning up reviews

Metacritic gives it an average of 9.6

The 1up review is the best read, but my two favourite quotes:

well, this game definetly shows that the X360 is heading the right way... maybe there will be a PC version which I would enjoy to see how it runs.. lol!

its got what PC games dont have... proper COOP and smooth streamlined online gameplay. 5/5.

Hey Useless...wait until i curb stomp you tonight

All i can say is that this game is awesome. I played 6 hours coop on friday night and had no issues and the gameplay was excellent.

Gears has 3 difficulty levels, casual, hardcore and insane. Apparently you need to play coop to finish insane!!

Yip, COOP is necessary to finish off the end on insane.

Just for the record, for those who will start playing GoW just start off in Hardcore coz anything you unlock in terms of achievements from Casual is also available in Hardcore.

Saves you from playing the game 3 times.

lol... thanks for the kind words Saint.

In the online terms the X360 has a well implemented system and very good network code with most of their games.

The whole Xbox Live system is based similar to Xfire + MSN in which is shows which of your friends are online, what they are doing and you have the option to in whichever game you host, press the Guide button on your Xbox controller and browse your friends list to invite them to your game.

In terms of smooth gameplay the best results are with an unshaped account, you can play against internationals with minimal/no lag at all. To think of it trying to play BF2 on any server outside SA is not reccomended. But Gears of War, PGR3 and other titles have excellent network code which results in some of the best online gaming matchups you can think of.

I currently use an unshaped pre-paid ADSL account from WebAfrica of 1GB for R125 which doesnt really expire. Bandwidth usage if you join depends on the games you play, but most dont go beyond 5-10MB per HOUR. If you HOST a game then you will of course use more bandwidth coz you will be the server. Currently after 3 weeks of having an unshaped account i am down to 680MB, out of which around 120MB were from downloads from Xbox Live.

For any more questsions just shoot.
