    Default Why SF sucks . . .

I really want to like Special Forces, I really do, but after tonight I conclude 1 thing. The maps make it suck. There are only two maps I really enjoy playing and thats Ghost town and surge. Night Flight is okay, but I find all teh others frustrating and convoluted, like they're trying too hard to be counterstrike with choppers.

Iron gator has got to be the worst map of any game i have ever played! And Leviathan? I can totally understand how a highly trained Navy seal, with a grapling hook, can't pull himself 50cm out of water . . .

SKIP. S K I P!!!! I bought it and I think I played it for about half an hour. At R180 that works out to R6 per minute for gameplay. Like TG says it crashes. It also does really strange things when it starts up. Takes forever and seems undecided about which graphics mode to choose so it switches between several. Your screen keeps flickering at you. Also SGS took the only SF server offline so to the best of my knowledge there is no server for SF in SA. Big consideration for a game that is really all about online multiplay.

Weird. I don't have any graphics issues. I just have the occasional CTD.

The SF server does exist - it was up last night. A couple of us (clannies) were playing. Had fun.

Whats the server address? Mebbe I dont have it. The only one I got is 196.4.79.6 which is being used for clan league at the mo.

Yeah, had some real fun last night. I must agree that the maps can be very confusing. I usualy spend the first few minutes getting killed quite a few times trying to figure out what's going on, but once you get orientated you start to enjoy yourself.

My feeling is that the SF maps give much more options than the BF2 maps, which leads to the high amount of confusion initially. I personally like the choice, and will continue playing it, if possible.

PS I haven't experienced any of the other problems mentioned. My biggest problem is the grappling hook. Once you have thrown it up a wall, how do one actually climb up one??? Spend three or four minutes staring up at a wall will reading through the so-called instruction manual, which was of no help at all, off course

"E" grabs onto the grappling hook / zip line, and to get off as well. "G" picks it up when you're done.

I haven't had CTD issues (Maybe it doesn't like SLi ) But I'd be keen for the admins to cut it down to the following maps:

    Ghost Town
    Surge
    Night Flight
    Devils Perch
    (And Maybe Warlord)

I enjoy it as something different to do, but I cannot really get into it like you can with standard BF2.
And the vehicles are like wierd, you're more like flying than driving, and the armour is excessively slow.
But I like the fact that a medic can actually kill somebody with one shot to the head - that's a bit more realistic.

Advice on buying it : Skip it. There's not enough support [local players] for it, and when the euro pack comes out, SF will die.

I'm with Doobi on this one, we dashed around last nite for a few maps...I hate the aircraft carrier mp.....i can't find the d@mn flags....hmmm but thats how I normally play anyway....*goes off to contemplate generally weak bf2 abilites*
