Busy installing SF, and its installing a Patch (1.1), do I have to repatch my system with 1.12 after this install?
Yes![]()
Yes [again].
I had BF2 installed with 1.12 patch.
Then I installed SF and it patched both down to 1.1.
So I ran the 1.12 patch and then it pretended to work for like 20 seconds then the server told me my version was too high.
Solution :
Backup MyDocuments\Battlefield2 folder.
Uninstall SF.
Uninstall BF2.
Install BF2 [DO NOT PATCH]
Install SF - let it auto patch.
Run 1.12 patch.
Restore the Battlefield 2 folder backed up earlier.
Cool.
Hopefully yours works better than mine.
Me recommends trying to install the 1.12 patch for the second time.
Somebody's worked after that, but it gave them a lot of hassles.
I recommend uninstalling ... sigh ... and reinstalling ... sigh, but try the install the patch again.
Jup do the whole smabang, i had to do it asswell, and after you are done, install the latest grahics driver, their installation replaces lot of your installation and it is really really really oooolllllllllddddddddddddd. Set it up for the latest one once your done.
If it doesnt work, hmmmm, uninstall and delete every possible trace of the game on your pc and start all over, .....sigh, it sucks. I had to do it only to find out the BF2 graphics engine blowed my graphics card cause i didnt reinstall the drivers after bf2 and sf (and patch) installations.
Aaaand the results up to date... installed everything, tried to run special forces off the bat. bf2.exe crashed. At this point I feel like crying a little. So then I unmount the SF image, and mount the BF2 image (fsck fsck fsck fsck fsck...grep hehe), run bf2 original to make sure alls good, it runs... Yay!, I close it down, start up SF without mounting the image (leaving the original bf2 mounted image loaded), and SF appears to run correctly (was able to login to the multi player area) .. I havent tested in game.. but yeah.. im a little more optomistic at this point.
