What pisses me off the most about this is the hackers saying they aren't using some built-in flaw or something, they're just conning the incompetent tech support (based in some crappy third world country) in resetting the victim's account password!

Well, I would call incompetent tech support a built-in flaw
It is not the responsibility of a defender to leave the objective unguarded just so his opponent sucks less.

It could be a bit hard for tech support to actually prove that you are NOT the owner of the account. Mmmm.... time to change my password just in case.
