    Default Site Move

    Hi Guys,

Primarily due to the line instability, I will be moving the site to a host kindly offered / donated by Rainy (We'll probably have to stand still a couple of times so that he can snipe us ).

His hosting facility has multiple reduntant links, etc etc (I'm sure he'll fill in the details if he wants).

We're looking at moving the server on the weekend of the 28th, so you'll need to put up with the problems for 1 more week, then we should be 100% stable.

I will be taking the site offline for the move, so you will see the usual 'forum offline' message.

I'll do the gloating act if anyone wants fine details. Until then let me assure you that I already run multiple websites and mail users on the same server and have had no complaints so far.

    Ohkah.

The box itself ain't nothing speshul, an AMD 3000 with 1Gig of RAM and 160 Gigs of HDD space. It is hosted by German provider Hetzner in a facility that has a 7x redundant uplink as follows:

    # 10 GBit/s LambdaNet
    # 10 GBit/s Noris Network
    # 3 GBit/s Tiscali
    # 2 GBit/s DE-CIX
    # 1 GBit/s Cable & Wireless
    # 1 GBit/s KPN EuroRings
    # 1 GBit/s N-IX

The box is connected to the facility network through 100BaseT and has a free traffic volume of 1000 Gigabytes per month.

Oh, I've used Hetzner before....many moons ago. I have never had a reason to complain about their service...was a bit irritating having the support based in Cape Town though.

I also think Hetzner is great. By the way, what is wrong with the support being in CT? We often have to phone J'burg for support on stuff.

Erm, actually Hetzner's support division, as far as I am concerned, is located in Nuremberg, Germany
