Thumbs up Transformers : The Movie

So who has seen it? I just got back from Montecasino and its got to be the movie of the year. Period. Stunning visual effects and over the hill action make some fighting scenes too large for the big screen!

Definetly a 2nd must see movie if you enjoy Michael Bay's action extravaganza.

I agree this has got too be one of da best movies I've seen this year (Still fighting for place with 300) Although I think it has the edge due to large transforming robots playing with my emotions

Agreed it's a 2nd (maybe 3rd) must see again and it has too be on the BIG screen!

You can see they brought in the help of the Anime artists for the transformations, totally cool!

bumbelbee is da man! (or car, or robot or umm maybe transformer )

Okay - I thought the first of this movie was absolutely awesome. It was so 'real' in a sense. Second half just got silly with the Section 7 wally. They should have kept that gritty edge that the first half had.

The special effects are awesome. The fights are great. Just that second half dialogue.

    Big screen FTW.

If you're going through hell, keep moving.

Im in two minds in this.

On one hand it's not a very good movie, and on the other hand its freaking transformers!!

Its bad because of various things: plot-holes of note, the "shake-the-camera-when-we-do-an-action-scene-so-that-we-can-be-lazy-and-not-have-to-animate-it-all" just bothered me horribly (although I am sympathetic to this as it's on old trick used by Hollywood to cut corners in production), and some other small details which really bothered me, like why would robots need to blink? why do they want to hide from the kids parents but go running through a freaking city with no problems? why do the glasses which are normal human sized ones become so huge in Optimus's hands? seriously, his hands are big enough to hold a human and the glasses go from normal size to gigantic in his hands!!
So thats whats wrong with it (well, all that I can remember).

    Whats right with it?

Optimus's voice is like silk on my ears, the transformations and graphics were incredible, the action scenes (when they weren't doing the shaky thing) were excellent, Megatron pwns all and the story was incredibly gritty and engaging (in parts that weren't filled with plot-holes). and besides all that ITS FREAKING TRANSFORMERS!!

@ Flange: Yes, Optimus does have an awesome voice, doesn't he?
As to your complaints, may I direct you attention to the following two words: Giant. Robots. And if there is one thing on this planet the Voorhees can get behind, it's giant robots laying the smackdown on each other. And to any rebuttal, I say again: GIANT ROBOTS. FIGHTING EACH OTHER. TRANSFORMERS. So there.

    I agree heartily!!

Damn that film training! They warned us on the first day it would ruin films for me for the rest of my life! But did I listen? Noooooooo....

TRANSFORMERS MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE.... TRANSFORMERS ROBOTS IN DISGUISE...

Come on guys, its frikken huge robots blowing the hell out of Each Other. I loved the movie all the way through, and for me the cheesy stuff was kind of needed, its just... just... transformers. also it humanises the Robots with the blinking and stuff, and like by giving them personalities instead of "Yes Sir, i will serve... *beep beep* your wish is my command"

I noticed all the cheesy stuff, but didnt care, the movie still PWNED hard!

    TRANSFORMERS FOR THE WIN!

Watched this movie last night and I loved it!

Just wish I had watched it on the big screen though.

Loved the special effects, the "almost human" robots, the "cheesy bits" (as you guys have mentioned), well, all of it.

    Would definitely watch it again.
