Howzit guys!
YAY! The first TV series thread - thanks Rainers, but aren't all Downloads illegal? (so PM me with the links guys!)
Anyway, this weekend i couldn't find anything to watch, and a lot of my friends said that Dexter is the way to go.
Dexter is Dexter Morgan, a sociopath. He analyzes bloodspatter for the Miami PD, but in his free time he tracks down killers and disposes of them.
Now trust me, i haven't spoiled anything for you, if you've seen the first 5 minutes of the first episode or any trailer for the series for that matter, you'd know this.
To start off with, the show is brilliantly made, with an opening credit sequence that many a producer can be happy with, it's just so much fun to watch. It's gritty with an engrossing storyline, but you'll notice after the first season, which consists only of 12 episodes, that it didn't feel like a short series, but rather, a long movie. That's because Dexter Morgan is a fictional character in a series of novels by Jeff Lindsay, which include Darkly Dreaming Dexter (2004), Dearly Devoted Dexter (2005), and Dexter in the Dark (2007). And the series is made as concisely as the book, which is probably better, because they're not going off on any tangents, as some shows tend to do, tangents that lead to nothing. You'll come to like Dexter Morgan very quickly as we explore the relationship with his father. It's rare to find a sociopath with a code and that just adds to the intrigue.
At time of writing, the show is currently up to its 4th episode of the second season in the states. We can only but hope Lindsay continues penning the young serial killer, this show has much more potential than 3 seasons.
I love this, it's now one of my personal favourites, ranked slightly higher than the Unit and mostly on par with 24. Baie lekker storie hoor!
