Default Condemned : Criminal Origins [PC/X360]

Some screenies of the original visceral game released for the X360 last year which is getting a PC port.

ETA is 11th April and it seems like a scary gory title which could benefit from mouse/keyboard control.

A definite must have for eerie nights when your ADSL is down.

    Game has gone gold!

"Sega fired over word that Monolith's Condemned: Criminal Origins has gone gold for the PC:

With the launch date set at April 11th, PC gamers are less than a month away from the haunting thrill and excitement that took critics and gamers by storm on the Xbox 360. In Condemned: Criminal Origins, gamers play Agent Thomas, an investigator in the FBI's Serial Crimes Unit (SCU), whose pursuit of relentless serial killers leads him through urban environments filled with sociopaths lurking in the shadows, waiting to destroy him. "

Now who will play this with their lights off?

a preview at Gamespot is available.

    Snippet :

"The fighting system in Condemned is fairly straightforward. The left mouse button lets you swing your weapon, and the larger or heavier the weapon, the longer it takes to wind up, leaving you vulnerable for a moment. Meanwhile, the right mouse button lets you use your weapon to block an incoming attack. You can hit the space bar to kick your opponents to create some breathing room (or to finish them off if they're lying on the ground), while clicking on the mousewheel lets you use your stun gun to temporarily daze your enemy. If you can get an opponent on his knees, you can execute a cinematic finishing move to put him out of his misery. It's a bit disturbing just how satisfying it can be to beat down a tough opponent, which is probably why the game has a Mature rating. The action, while brutal, doesn't get too graphic. Still, this is easily a game for adults because of the intense, violent content and the language (enemies will utter profanities at times). "

Cant we get pipes and fire axes in BF2 as well? Knifing seems to be getting a bit old news now...

a review is available at IGN.

"The graphics in general can be described as filthy, cluttered, grimy and jarringly revolting in a gorgeous sort of way. It's a good looking game and actually looks better on the PC than it did on the 360 thanks to some higher resolutions. Though as with F.E.A.R., you'll need a great machine to take advantage of all of the detail and effects the game has to offer. What's strange and a bit disappointing is that the game only supports widescreen format meaning any 4:3 resolution is going to be in letterbox unless you know how to fiddle with your monitor to change that around. In 1600x1200 you'll see the menu system in the right resolution but once in the game you'll have a great view of black strips on top and bottom of your gameplay. While we can appreciate the cinematic aspect of the widescreen, a large number of PC gamers don't have widescreen monitors and we would have appreciated being able to fill up the screen"

I actually dont mind the movie-like aspect of the game, i played the demo and after a while you lose perception of the 16:9 game display ratio as you try to survive in the game.
