note that currently the game related file is around 1.2GB in size should you get the game from an online source.

any copy installed directly from the game CD's will require an update of at least 300MB in the initial stages of playing time.

Since the client is available from the net, I'm sure it's not a problem to copy the game cds for anyone interested who doesn't want to download the several gigs required - if you're willing to pay more for an online key.

Wtf are they thinking, really? How can the online key cost more than a boxed game (with a huge ass manual I might add)?

yeah, that works. Fivel borrowed my GW CD's a while back to avoid all the game updates as he accessed new areas of the game.

its just the Factions Preview download of +300MB that might scare a few people...

    Is that one compulsory?

Shouldn't it be possible to just burn the contents of your game directory onto another PC to get hold of all that content?

Copying the game folder should work - I did it. I copied the game folder from my old PC to the new one and it worked! I was not keen to sit and download it all again... I can't believe they charge you for the box and then for an account. The box set should contain an account key.

Whoa there! You buy the game and you have to pay again for an account? Have I got this right?

No Darnit... buying the game from a store gives you the account for the game. Some people can borrow somebody else's CD to install the game but buy the key online.
