Default The Jane Austen Book Club

This is an absolutely awesome movie. The title says it - a group of people (5 woman and 1 guy) get together to discuss Jane Austen's work. Their lives sort of intersect with each other at the book club meetings but also with the stories that Jane Austen wrote.

The guy has joined because he is trying to pull one of the women - who breeds dogs. The French teacher has a thing for one of her students. The one woman's husband has left her. Her daughter is a lesbian and the other woman is sort of driving it all.

There is an in joke - there is a Buffy convention at the one hotel and the husband of the French teacher had played Riley in one or two of the Buffy seasons.

You don't need to have read Austen's books but it will add to your enjoyment.

And it is all ages - young teens will enjoy too. Maybe not young teen boys but who knows?

If you're going through hell, keep moving.

I'd go and watch this, i did Austen last year, read Emma and Pride and Prejudice.
Emma was devastatingly boring, but P&P was just amazing, i fell in love with that story, it is fantastic.

I still have "Persuasion" sitting on my bookshelf, but now that i don't have to read it, i don't want to read it - bring on DRUSS THE DEATHWALKER!
