    Question Sound card problems

    Hi everyone!

I bought an Audigy Value soundcard yesterday but it is giving me problems.

With sound options set to hardware, high, eax, everythmg sounds fine except the voice over which sounds like somebody stuttering.

"e-e-e-en-e-m-m-m-y-y i-i-in-n-nf-a-n-t-ry" or something to that effect.

Setting sound option to software solves the problem. But what is the point then??

Did any one else experience this problem and is there a fix??

Make sure you have the latest drivers.
Go here using IE, and click on Software AutoUpdate.

Try running dxdiag (from Start Menu - Run) and check your hardware acceleration level in the Sound 1 tab. You might have to lower that one a bit. Try setting it to Standard Acceleration. Also, setting sound in BF2 to hardware but disabling EAX might help. Last not least, always check that you have the most current drivers.

edit: loaded latest drivers frm autoupdate and set acceleration to standard. Working great now.
    Thanks for the tips!!!

It must have been the drivers. I just set the acceleration back to maximum and it is still working 100%.

Got Rateltaai's problem with a Xonar soundcard, all drivers at latest level ... only way I can play BF2 without the stutteriong is by setting accelaration to basic which defeats the point of having a sound card ... any help would be appreciated

I think BF is the problem, i have an X-Fi sound card (with the so-called) latest drivers but have to set it to one setting lower in the BF2 sound quality settings, else i have intermittent crackles and pops.

so much for the audio edge!
