    Lightbulb 'Autotraining' 101

This is a thread devoted to the art of autotraining. Before I begin, there are a few things that are needed:

    What is autotraining?
Autotraining is not so much an in-game feature, as a way to improve one's skills without actually actively training them. This can get you the +5 bonuses to some skills that are boring and hard to get otherwise.

    Should I use autotraining?
It is completely up to you. If it ruins your game, or you think It's cheating, don't. Otherwise, go right ahead. This is not a thread on whether or not you should, just information about it.

Okay, enough about that boring stuff. How do I autotrain?
That depends on what you want to autotrain, and you've come to the right place

Here are some of the skills that I've thought of ways to autotrain for. Some simply can't be autotrained (ie, Mercantile) and some I just haven't thought of ways for.

Here is a current list of skills that can be autotrained and how to autotrain them:

    Non Magic Skills:
Athletics: by FAR the easiest, just press the handy 'q' button when facing a corner and leave overnight/over the long weekend that you spend in the karoo.
Sneak: Similar to athletics, but two things must happen: 1, you must be sneaking near people and 2, they must not be able to see you. A good way to ensure this is to go into a guild and sneak in a corner

Now this could be dangerous, I haven't tried it and it is currently theoretical, so save before attempting.

    Light/Heavy armour:
Once you reach a reasonably high level, this may be possible. First, you need to start a quest in Leyawiin, 'Whom Gods Annoy'. this requires you to go to a womans house and attack one of the scamps once, but not enough to kill it. . Then, it should attack you. get a spell that heals the amount of damage it does (roughly) and somehow hold/press down the cast button (small hand torches work well for this, I find [although see more of this in my magic section]) and leave overnight. The scamp should constantly damage you (slightly), but you should be able to heal it and not in the end take any damage. This should increase your Armour skill.
Note: if you can somehowhold down block, you can take even less damage, and it will increase your block and armour skill, but you will (probably) not be able to heal yourself. Remember, this is dangerous and theoretical and probably suicidal.

    Magic Skills
This depends largely on your magicka recharge rate, and your position in the game (ie, can you make your own spells).
    A general how-to:
Basically, get something heavy, yet smallish (I think a small torch would work well, as it is small, unlikely to topple if you put it down head first and reasonably heavy.) and place it on the 'c' key (or whatever key is your cast key) Your character should begin casting their currently used spell over and over. This is basically all that is needed (just leave overnight etc..)
Destruction: You need to be able to access the arcane university for this, as you cannot target yourself with any of the destruction spells I have found in shops. Make a spell that A) gives you a weakness to anything or B) Drains anything (preferably fatigue). It should look like so: 'Weakness to magicka 1 point on self for 1 second' or something...
Alteration: A feather spell for 1 second/open lock when facing any cabinet/door
    Mysticism: Dispel 1 point/telekenisis 1 point 1 second
Restoration: Fortify x for 1 second/restore fatigue (if it works in your game, it didn't in mine)
    Conjuration: Summon x for 1 second/Bound x for 1 second
Illusion: chameleon x points for 1 second/Invisibility 1 second/ charm 1 point 1 second when facing a character that shouldnt move around much (ie, shopowner) --WARNING: if you stay in some buildings too long, the owner attacks you because they 'want to lock up' or go to bed without you trespassing etc...

You should get the idea, and feel free to experiment with different effects. Some will not work (for example, in my game you cannot raise your restoration with restore health effects if your health is full), but others will. As long as the cost of the spell is reasonably low (ie, under 4 magicka), if you have a willpower of about 40+ your magicka should recharge or regenerate faster than you can cast, thus meaning you never run out of magicka.

Note: Greg (Bambi) hates autotraining and thinks it's cheating... Anyway, it's your choice...

    Important Announcement:

Greg cheated. Therefore, anything he says about autotraining is rubbish, because it's hypocritical and therefore can be discounted. So there.

You can also autotrain armor by picking a fight with a crab or something like that and just heal instead of fighting back .

Note, autotraining a primary skill is a very bad idea in this game. It means you will level up too fast and the monsters will become very hard. Also, try to just autotrain a little bit per secondary (10 levels for each interesting attribute), so that one can get the +5 attribute points for all three attributes at each level.

As long as I did not get more than -5 yesterday, I should be OK then.

Note, you can also combine many of the spells in that spoiler into one if you really want to level up fast.

And thanks FeralBanana, good to know that.

    good point

On that note, though... you may not be able to 'autotrain' the spell you make, as it may cost too much... you have been warned...
