    Default X1800xt vs 7800GTX

Ok i know this is posted all over the internet, but one site says X the other site says Y.

    My conclusions:
The GTX has more pixel pipeline but the X1800xt has much faster core clock and memory.
The 512MB X1800xt is also way cheaper than the 512MB 7800gtx.
The XT performs better at high res and max AA
SLi better option than Crossfire in RSA

Those are my ATi bias opinions.

When i get my new pc i just want to make the right choice...

    I'm biased tho.
I've got no experience with ATI, so I'm hard-pressed to recommend them to anyone. For all I know, they're better than the nVidias.

I'm running BF@ on the 7800 GTX 256 MB at 1600x1200 with detail maxed out but no AA, and it runs great ..can recommend it

Been trying to run BF at 1900x1200 but it seems to default back to 1600x1200

Bear in mind though the 7800 GTX 512 is about 30% fast than the 256MB card, only problem is there is very little stock anywhere and as long as that is the case it'll be way too expensive

    My 10c

Tough one. I'm currently running an ATi card and it's great, but my impression is that nVidia typically has better drivers. The 1800 looks like a bit of a dustbuster though and might be prety noisy.

i have been an Nvidia user for ages now, but having been reading articles from both sides of the fence as usual it has become clear that ATI's 5.13 drivers have taken the crown back from Nvidia.

I would say the X1800 series of cards will outperform their Nvidia counterparts in the speed and image quality by minor margins, albeit significant in the their PR marketing campaigns.

SLI and Crossfire will die out as dual-processor support and Physics chips will take gaming by storm in 2006. This is due to the next-gen consoles coming out which sport multi-processor features which gaming companies have to design games now, and any games out for those consoles will have their PC counterparts.

UT2007 will have Physics chip support and multi-processor advantages as well. Lets wait and see what 2006 brings to our upgrade queries....

check out this review on the X1800XT from Asus where it outperforms the Nvidia 7800GTX 512MB by a minor margin.

the Asus ATI card was clocked @ 700Mhz thanks to a Arctic Cooler fan & sink combo... yikes!
