    Default The Da Vinci Code

It's been a while since I read the book, and I slightly preferred 'Angels & Demons', and it still escapes me why 'Da Vinci Code' is non only one of the biggest bestsellers of all times and creating such a widespread controversy. It was an enjoyable read, but nothing mindblowing or brilliant.

That being said, I really enjoyed the movie. I feared it would be a lot more action-packed, but they really tried to tell the story properly. They were however concentrating on the whole controversy angle and left the Leonardo aspect a bit under cover. But this is one of the few cases where I walk out of a movie made after a book which I read before and was not disappointed.

Definitely something I'll get on DVD.

I was not disappointed, yet enjoyed the book more.

I still really dislike Tom Hankie Poo as Langdon XP.

Apart from that, it was pretty good.

I dunno. I'm not thrilled with all the hype that this frikkin' book is getting.

I've read all of his books. Agreed, Angels & Demons was far better, but 'Code wasn't too bad.

Digital Fortress was complete and utter crud. I honestly don't know how they could have published such a poorly written piece of trash.

Deception point was better, but it follows exactly the same formula that all his other books follow.

You notice that there have been no further books from him since he hit the cash cow? It looks to me like he was just in it for the money (Which is not necessarily a bad thing).

Hmm.. I didn't mind Dig Fort. too much, but it wasn't that great.

Oh, and A&D has some really cool moments, but also some REALLY cheesy ones (jumping from a chopper? WtC?)

Yeah. Digital Fortress was crap. Deception Point I enjoyed. However, Dan Brown is generally not a brilliant author. I enjoyed his books like I enjoy a Clive Cussler, it's easy reading. But nothing utterly brilliant or mindblowing.

I wonder if he will ever write another book. I mean he is basically settled for life... And whatever he writes next, he can only lose, qualitywise.

@RN, uh, according to what I've heard, anything else would probably be an improvement . . . .

I'm glad I've only read DVC from what I hear, everything else is pretty dissappointing. Just that he's like the Mills and Boons of conspiracy stories.

Still keen to see the movie, I like to see "artistic" interpretations, it's always interesting how other people perceive characters you've only had in your mind. Although everyone new Alan Rickman was destined to be Snape
