You know, I would take this more to heart if the sniper slagging in BC2 didn't come mostly from smacktards who otherwise don't give a crap about who shares the server with them. The words 'teamplay' and 'help your team' have a foul aftertaste when said by people who care about nothing besides their own stats and w/l ratio. Especially when they start teamkilling people whose game style they don't like.

At the end of the day, it's a free for all and people play for different reasons. I play for fun and I have most fun with the sniper kit. That doesn't mean I don't try to help my team, be it by spotting, using mortar strikes or even chaging to a different kit when the situation requires it. There are some maps where I almost never snipe. But the general perception out there is that all snipers are useless, and that just doesn't go down well. Do you know how often I see an MCOM being attacked and none of the big mouth Assault and Medic players with their complete unlocks make even an attempt at disarming it?

I lolld. Snipers have a use, like 1 or 2 on a team attacking a rush to counter the enemy ones. A team of snipers on a rush attack is just lol, unless they all have shotguns and stuff.
There will always be tards who spend their time camping and taking easy kills like that who refuse to arm/disarm mcoms etc.
The one thing i love about playing clannies is that for once everyone plays specifically for the good of the team and for the win, so if that means everyone must be medics or AT then so be it.

So people who want to do proper teamplay must play clannies. Simple lesson. Moaning at other people for their playing style on FFA servers is just off.

You get snipers who play for their team & snipers who play for themselves. A sniper who spots, throw motions mines & drops mortar (on the enemy) all the time is an asset to to his team. Too many snipers is just silly.

I am with you Arby, and I also sometimes shake my head at the amount of snipers on a Rush attack team. But there is nothing you can do about it. If people want to play sniper, it's their right to do so, if they want to play for themselves, fine. It's FFA, you can't force anyone to play what they don't want to play. I've seen a lot of sniper moaning on the official BC2 forums (a lot of moaning about 40mms, CGs and M60s as well) but it's so pointless. They're slagging people for doing what's their right to do.

I have often been top of the log playing sniper, it's easy to rack up extra points with spots and mines, hell run in and arm the Mcom then drop arty and run, anyone left alive by arty can be picked off easy by myself or any team mate with me. Also snipers make great spawn points on attack.

VSS and 4x scope is also FTW!

Yesterday I was on a Rush server & the opposing team were simply too strong for us - they had all the 1337 players & we had none. To give you an example I was on top of the scoreboard for our side all the time. Anyway, at Port Valdez we were attacking & they just camped the bottom of the hill so badly that we couldn't get past. I was having a whale of a time lobbing Gustavs & 40mm nades into the douchebags at the bottom of the hill but the other players on my side were getting nuked so it couldn't have been all that fun for them.

CrashtestDummy on the other side had some snide comment about what a bad game it was & the others were lol'ing about how pathetic we were. Once again - I was nuking so it didn't bug me, I just felt bad for the players on my side. I told them at the beginning of the next round that it was only a bad game for the pathetic campers at the bottom of the hill parking off lobbing nades up the hill & CrashtestDummy calls me a nOOb. We'll see who's noob & decided to snipe knowing we didn't have a hope in hell of getting past them on the first set of M-Coms. Thank you very much, CrashtestDummy, I'll have 3 headshots More than one way to skin a cat. Once again on top of the log on my side & I'm not the best sniper in the world. Don't get mad, get even.

Credit for Scooby on the opposing side - he wasn't one of the douchbags camping the bottom of the hill.
